We’re introduced to our main character as a lonely, isolated teen. He’s an outsider at school who's bullied by classmates. He's often seen walking home alone, no friends to lean on. In class, he stares out the window, lost in thought, disconnected from the world around him. He tends to doze off in class, often having nightmares of shadowy figures coming for him. At home, things aren’t much better. The one person he should be able to count on, his brother, is actually one of the ones tearing him down. He sees his brother going down the wrong path and there's nothing he can do. This episode sets the emotional foundation for the story, a boy who feels like he doesn’t belong, grappling with betrayal from someone he still loves. It "hurts to love" someone who makes you feel so alone.
