Fans understandably get thrilled when they hear Nick Carter sing, or have the chance to meet him in person, but these days Nick himself is just as excited about the evolution of his career as well as his personal life. An internationally acclaimed vocalist and performer, Nick is steadily developing his talents as an actor, writer and filmmaker, while remaining strongly committed to his work as an environmental activist. He has also embraced a healthier lifestyle, and his fitness finds parity in a more healthy and fulfilling relationship with his family.
Following a reunion with the Backstreet Boys for their 2007 album Unbreakable and sold-out world tour, Carter is currently working on the next band release with various producers, songwriters and guest artists including Akon, RedOne, Jim Johnson, Jordan Omley, Rodney Jerkins, Chris Brown, Brian Kennedy, Rico Love, Andre Merritt and Ne-Yo. With several songs co-written by Nick, the album “brings us back to our R&B and pop roots.” The first single is due this spring.
Starting his career as the youngest member of the Backstreet Boys at the tender age of twelve and performing around the world with the group for 15 years, Nick Carter has helped inspire the enduring popularity of the band, not only with his expressive tenor voice, but also his blonde hair and blue eyes. Among his accolades over the years, Teen Scene magazine ranked him #1 on its “Hottest Under 21’ list, Teen People named him “Biggest Teen Idol” and People Magazine voted him one of its “50 Most Beautiful People.” E! Online went further, christening him the most gorgeous celebrity on the planet.
The Backstreet Boys took the world by storm in 1995 and became an international phenomenon, selling over 80 million records worldwide to date and earning five Grammy nominations and countless Billboard, MTV Video, American Music, RIAA, People’s Choice and other awards. From their self-titled breakthrough album to the success of Millennium in 1999 (setting a record for first-day sales with 500,000 copies sold), the band has consistently earned fans and sold out concert venues in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. In 2002 Nick Carter became the first of his band-mates to go solo, releasing his gold-certified debut album, Now or Never, and launching a solo world tour.
In 2006 Carter dipped his toe into the world of reality television to star in “House of Carters” on E! Entertainment, reuniting with his siblings under one roof for the first time since they were very small children. In 2004 he starred in the horror film “The Hollow,” a remake of the classic
Sleepy Hollow broadcast by ABC Family. Nick continues to pursue acting opportunities while honing his skills as a writer, director and producer, currently ramping up two original short films.
Passionate about the health of the environment and the world’s oceans (as a water enthusiast who loves diving, waterskiing, boating and surfing), Nick continues to devote his time and celebrity toward the cause. He has worked with UNEP (the United Nations Environmental Program) and the International Coral Reef Action Network (ICRAN), and has even gone to Capitol Hill to lobby for environmental issues. He is also enjoying being more active as “the big brother who helps wherever he can,” devoting more time to his siblings and the rest of his family.
